Reviews of ABDC's Ke$ha Challenge from Zekeish and Byeynyn

Here are more reviews of America's Best Dance Crew's Ke$ha Challenge from readers Byeynyn and Zekeish:
  • From Byenyn: Last week, five crews danced to Lil Wayne, one got cut. Shocking, right? This time the other five crews will be dancing to songs by the irritating Ke$ha. Okay, you know what? I’m not sure how mad I should be at her. She sounds like she drunkenly slurs through every song appears in, and generally looks that way too. But the truth is, when she doesn’t sound like she got hammered minutes before recording an album, she has a pretty decent voice, believe it or not (or at least believe Wikipedia). That’s not the one that’s popular though. The ridiculous “dollar-sign-replaces-the-letter-S” persona became popular. And you can’t blame just one person for something becoming popular, it’s a group effort. To summarize this rant- Blah Blah Blah! Click here to read the rest!
  • From Zekeish: Hey there BABDC community, this is Zeke aka Zekeish coming in with my second review to the Ke$ha challenge. This episode was clearly worse off than last week’s episode. Blame it on the talent level of the crews, blame it on the songs/mixes, it really doesn’t matter. Last week’s episode was like a 5 star restaurant, and this week was like a Bob Evan’s. Anyway with that said, this is my FANTABULOUS review for ABDC episode Ke$ha Challenge. I have also added a new rating to my rating scale so make sure you take notice of that! Good luck! This round is now closed. The new round of this contest will be posted in a few days.

  • We'll Fix It In is in its usual top form, deciding on a brand for Instant Noodles, explaining Lil Mama's ethnic accents and positing that Jag6ed's elimination was an economic decision for MTV
  • Too Interesting for Twitter goes into some detail on the dancing and picks the week's quotable judge as D-Trix: "I'm a man, so I see you ladies with your long hair on the pole and I can't help but get hard nipples."
  • Ology is drunk-blogging and hates noodles, but can't figure out why they sent Jag6ed home
  • Reality Wanted describes everything but the dancing
  • For A.C.Slater, almost everything was downhill after the group routine

Second round of our Elimination Challenge contest is now open!

The Elimination Challenge: Which crews will be in the bottom 2 each week & who will be eliminated? Enter each week; the person with the highest cumulative score for Season 6 wins an ABDC crew shirt of their choice and size (up to $35 value).

To enter: Each week, we'll publish a new post for this contest. When the weekly post is up, leave a comment with the names of the bottom 2, specifying which one is eliminated. For example, in Season 3, a winning entry for Week 7 would have read: "BOTTOM 2 WEEK 7 - Quest, Fly Khicks. Eliminated: Fly Khicks." From now on, you will be awarded 1 point for each crew you name in the bottom 2 that week, and an extra point for identifying the eliminated crew, for a total of 3 possible points per week.  This week's deadline: midnight on Monday April 18, 2011. UPDATE: the second round is now closed. The next round will be posted in a few days.

**IMPORTANT**: Create a user name you will use every week for the entire contest, and make it memorable (not just a common first name or word). I can't track email addresses, and if it's difficult for me to track votes, they won't be counted.

Dance's Review of ABDC's Ke$ha Challenge

Video: Highlights from 2011 World of Dance LA

World of Dance produced a intense highlights video with scenes from WOD LA 2011: the dance competitions in all styles, ages and combinations, as well the dancers' warmups and rehearsals, and the crowd. It does a better job than most videos in showing the excitement that you can only get from a live dance event. The next World of Dance event: Dallas on April 23.

Non-spoiler Report from the ABDC6 Ke$ha taping

Yoo attended the first taping of ABDC6 and left this non-spoilerish info. Thanks Yoo!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Lets get to the dancing!  It was kind of weird because it was  the 1st taping but they were taping the 2nd episode. It was the Ke$ha challenge. They did split up the episodes where only 5 crews would perform. The 5 Crews were FootworKINGz, 787 Crew, Iconic Boyz, Jag6ed, and Instant Noodles. The show opened up with a group performance including all the crews! It was Fantastic! Even though I'm Not a fan of Ke$ha's music, each crews' solos really defined what their style is.

Judges: Really there's not much to talk about here about Lil Mama and JC because they are basically the same that we've seen the past 5 seasons. D-trix i must say is  a good addition to this group because he knows dance and knows what he's saying rather than just.... "AYEEEE". Wink  His humor is really funny! He knows when to pull in jokes. He ALSO knows when to get down to business and he DOES speak his mind about the crews, You'll see.

Crowd: In the crowd we got some Celebs in Attendance:
--Jun Quemado, Lando Wilkins, Brian Puspos - Mos Wanted Crew
--Hype 5-0
--KevJumba, VictorKim, JR Aquino - YTF (Youtube Friends)
-- My friend told me some guy named Caleb from Pretty Little Liars

Click here for more non-spoiler report from Yoo, including the music pair-ups and a brief [edited by Nancy] description of the groups. Thanks Yoo!

Mailbox: Judge news, We'll Fix it In's recap!, Michael Jackson vidgame release with Blueprint Cru

-- Lil Mama tells Zap2It about her expectations for Dtrix as an America's Best Dance Crew judge and describes why she is looking forward to seeing Street Kingdom on the show
-- Dtrix talks to the New York Post, calling Nigel Lithgoe (So You Think You Can Dance judge) his role model and describing the reason he thinks Quest won in Season 3.
-- We'll Fix it In weighed in on ABDC's Season of the SuperStar, riffing on JaJa wars, Kiwi Sisters, and the like. Welcome back guys!

"Sur Le Rythme", A French-language feature film, will feature Blueprint Crew, runners-up on ABDC Season 5. However, her encounter with Marc Painchaud will give her hope and enable her to defy her parents. It will be released in 2011. Here's the trailer:

One more: Zekeish's review of ABDC6's Lil Wayne Challenge

Given the number of people interested in writing America's Best Dance Crew reviews this season, I will probably need to combine posts (as done with the episode recaps) starting later this week. Here's one more read-worthy review:

Hey there BABDC community, this is Zeke aka Zekeish. I saw the reviews online and decided to jump on the opportunity to write a review of my own. This episode of ABDC was historic, epic, mind blowing and amazing all in one. I have yet to miss a single episode of ABDC and I must say, this was the best season premiere yet. I have involved myself heavily in dance in the past couple years after getting inspired by the JabbawockeeZ in season 1. My style of dance encompasses more than just one genre, I pop, hype, wave, krump and im learning how to break a little. So I have a little respectability in that regard.

Click here to read Zekeish's unconventional rating scale and his review of the group number and the individual performances by IaMmE, Phunk Phenomenon, ReQuest, Eclectic Gentlemen, and Street Kingdom. Thanks Zekeish!

ABDC6 Premiere -- WINNING!

The sixth season premiere of America’s Best Dance Crew was the #1 show on cable television on April 7, 2011 among Adults 18-34, Women 18-34, Women 18-49, Persons 12-34, Females 12-34, and Female Teens 12-17.  It delivered 2.39 million viewers, retaining 98% of its season five premiere of 2.43 million. Versus all primetime programming on that night on television (including network TV), ABDC ranked #4 in Women 18-34, #3 in Females 12-34 and #2 in Female Teens.

Other stats: the ABDC6 Premiere Episode delivered a 1.77 rating among Persons 12–34, retaining 95% of its Season 5 Premiere rating and improving 12% over the average rating for Season 5 episodes. The show also delivered a 2.13 rating among Teens 12–17, up 10% from its season five average telecast rating.

Exclusive videos with D-trix: Dtrix on auditioning to become an ABDC judge audition process, what the pluck, & more

Dominic Sandoval (D-trix) talked backstage to our interviewers Chris Trondsen and Brian Puspos at the double taping on April 3 for America's Crew Season 6. We have two videos we can show now -- one from before the first taping (for the show that airs on April 14) and another before the second taping. In the first, D-trix describes the audition process for judges, how he heard that he was picked, what it feels like to work with Lil Mama, JC Chasez and Mario Lopez; and which crew he's especially looking forward to watching this season. In the second video, he elaborates on judging and plucking. Thanks to MOVeMEDIA Productions for film and editing.

Byeynyn's review of ABDC6's Lil Wayne Challenge

You have no idea how much I’ve missed this show, probably because you don’t know who I am. But after a whole year, I’m pumped for Season Six. I’m so pumped that I’m going to provide my own recap of the episodes.

But let me get a few issues out of the way. I’m skeptical about this season’s music selection, and the challenges have gotten more ridiculous since the first season, and needlessly so. I suspect that a lot of these crews might be held back by both this season. Can you imagine krumping to Justin Bieber, or while performing a magic trick? I feel it’s like judging Paul McCartney based on how well he sings “Friday.” Second, D-Trix is the third judge who replaces Omarion (whom I do not miss). Despite his horn-dog tendencies, at least Shane Sparks provided the credibility of an articulate hip-hop choreographer, a unique perspective that won’t be offered by JC (not hip-hop), D-Trix (not a choreographer), or Lil Mama (not articulate). D-Trix does a passable job for now, but that void is still hard to fill.

Ninjaboi's review of ABDC's Lil Wayne Challenge

Can it be? Yes it can! Ninjaboi makes his return to BABDC.  Well, at least the review part of his job here on the site. For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Ninjaboi.  Nice to meetcha.  I’m a moderator here on the site so I get to read all your comments.  I also help Nancy out with posting. One thing I did last season was to write up reviews of each episode, which for some reason people really liked. *confused*  I guess I’m back, due to popular demand?

And for those of you are gonna question where this whippersnapper gets the authority to judge crews like this… Well, I’m just a human being like ya’ll who happens to be decent at putting his thoughts together in writing, combined with analytical skills.  I’m also a bboy (Reppin Freaks of the Beat), and a popper. So I hope you at least consider these humble opinions of mine when looking at the crews.

Click here for Ninjaboi's rating scale and review of the performances in the Lil Wayne Challenge by IaMmE, Phunk Phenomenon, ReQuest, Eclectic Gentlemen, and Street Kingdom. Thanks Ninjaboi!

Video: Eclectic Gentlemen talk about ABDC, show their audition routine and ABDC rehearsals

WildaBeast and K.love of Eclectic Gentlemen posted a video talking about their ABDC experience, what they're planning to do next, and thanking their fans and viewers. There's also footage of their ABDC6 audition and their rehearsals for the Lil Wayne Challenge. From beast9688 Youtube.

One of my least favorite aspects of America's Best Dance Crew is that the first few episodes of every season usually sends a worthy crew home much too soon. I was looking forward to watching Eclectic Gentlemen on ABDC for longer, and hope to watch them perform live in the near future.

BJhayPinoy's Review of ABDC6's Ep. 1: The Lil Wayne Challenge

Hey Guys! It's BJhayPinoy back with the hourly reviews (for the most part created in an hour or a little more). I create these reviews in about an hour so please excuse my typos, errors, and grammatical flaws.  Usually, I include a ranking of what I believed to be the best performances right down to the worst performances, but for the first two episodes I'll keep it as only a review + criticism.

Click here to read his full review of IaMmE,  Phunk Phenomenon, ReQuest, Eclectic Gentlemen, and Street Kingdom. Thanks BJhayPinoy!

The Party Room/Critics Corner opens at 9:45 ET and stays open as long as you want, so that everyone can comment on anything remotely related to ABDC. What did you think of the first five crews? Do you like the 'superstar' format compared to the old 'audition style' format? How did D-trix do as a judge?

At 10pm ET, I will be doing live play-by-play while watching the show along with Ninjaboi, Del and TBone, so feel free to tune in and make fun of me or get a sneak preview of the action (for those of you from the West Coast/Puerto Rico/New Zealand or other ABDC-deprived zones). Tomorrow morning, please vote in our polls on the best and worst performances. Plus we hope to have recaps, some more backstage videos, and more. And, we'll have Round 2 of the Top 4 Challenge Contest then, so get in on the action. Join us!

MTV's ABDC6 website is half-up -- bios, photos, logos for tomorrow's crews now available

If you seek more information about America's Best Dance Crew Season 6, MTV.com has now posted the information for the 5 (out of 10) crews that will compete on the April 7 show. Click here for the bios, photos, and crew logos. Thanks for the tip, Teldon!

Video: Street Kingdom interview at ABDC6 taping: Krumping and MUCH more!

Chris Trondsen and Brian Puspos interviewed Street Kingdom before they went on-stage for the America's Best Dance Crew Season 6 Premiere. The crew talked about how Tight Eyez pioneered krumping (and how he's undefeated for 12 seasons), how people have been supportive, how the members do popping and many other styles in addition to krumping, and show their handsign. Thanks, MOVeMEDIA productions!

Jungle Boogie on MTV's Silent Library tonight - April 6, 2011

TiVO Alert: Jungle Boogie (from America's Best Dance Crew Season 5) are among the stars on tonight's Silent Library, airing on MTV at 7pm ET/PT.  don't know what the crew will be doing on this Japanese-game-show-style competition, but it should be interesting.

Video: Backstage interview with IaMmE before ABDC6 Ep. 1 taping

Chris Trondsen and Brian Puspos talked to IaMmE before the taping of ABDC's first episode. Brian talks about how he taught Chachi when she was 9 years old, how they're dealing with the pressure of already having a fan base, how they feel, their international support, how Chachi feels being the youngest, how the members were chosen, and they show their fingerprint hand sign.  Thanks to MOVeMedia Productions, our partner for this season of ABDC!

Video: Molasses Gang Debut

There has been a lot of speculation that Molasses Gang was formed as a 'hate' group for one of the crews on ABDC6. Let us set the record straight now: that is NOT the case. Molasses Gang was formed as an inside joke amongst friends and has absolutely NO relevance towards this season of ABDC. The only crew MG shows ANY bias towards is 787 Crew because they da homies...and got pretty hurr. MG & 787 Crew!!!!! 2011 Till Infinitiiiii!!!!!!!!....swag.

Video: ABDC6 Episode 1 Group Performance

MTV (and some intrepid Youtubers) posted the group performance for ABDC6's Lil Wayne Challenge. So, here for the first time on the America's Best Dance Crew stage are IaMmE, Eclectic Gentlemen, ReQuest, Phunk Phenomenon, and Street Kingdom. Thanks Brett, Taff1013 and numerous commenters!

Video: Brian Puspos and Chris Trondsen's ABDC6 Ep. 1 'Preview show'

Brian Puspos (Mos Wanted Crew, Architeks) joined Chris Trondsen in the backstage interviews for America's Best Dance Crew Season 6's first two tapings. We have interviews with all the crews who performed that day and some other surprises and will post them soon. But we're starting with Brian and Chris' Pre-show, where they talk about the crews that would perform on the show airing April 7 -- IaMmE, Eclectic Gentlemen, Phunk Phenomenon, ReQuest, and Street Kingdom -- and what they're looking forward to seeing. Our videography partner this season: Scott Yoshimoto's MOVeMedia Productions.

Mos Wanted Crew - World of Dance Video, new Youtube Channel, and photo

Mos Wanted Crew just launched their MosWantedCrewTV Youtube Channel. They inaugurated it with their  2011 World of Dance Los Angeles performance (a routine created in just 4 days). And, I love this photo of the group!

Video: WOD Field reporter Isaac gets finger tutting advice from Quest's Hok

Isaac covered World of Dance Los Angeles for BloggingBestDanceCrew (read his report here). At the event, he met Hok (Quest, So You Think You Can Dance), showed Hok his tutting skills and got some technical tips. On poppiniSiK Youtube.

Non-spoiler reports from the taping for Thursday's show

Here's some brief non-spoilery news about the episode that will air on this Thursday, from TimeToFlytoThe Cheese, Crazed Beats, and YoYoYo. I promised MTV that I would hold off all reporting about the April 14 episode until after the April 7 one aired, so I'll post Yoo's report early next week. Thanks guys!
-------------------------------------
From TTFTTC and Crazed Beats: Five crews performed --Street Kingdom, Eclectic Gentlemen,.I.aM.mE, Phunk Phenomenon, and ReQuest...The five crews danced to Lil Wayne songs and they were all amazing!!! I think the judges had the hardest decision for this one. But somebody had to go. New stage, new judge, and new crews are gonna take this show to a whole new level.

From YoYoYo (edited by Nancy):
  • IaMmE was up first.....very clean and sharp...Their story is that Jaja is not from america and she left home to dance in America
  • Phunk Phenomenon were like Rhythm City meets Phresh Select...very versatile crew. Their story is that the leaders' father passed away and it was his dream for his boys to be on the show.
  • Request-  very clean, sharp, and hard....story is that Kaili has a birthmark on her face and she always felt self conscious
  • Eclectic Gentlemen- they had fireman....they were very clean and versatile with tricks and isos and popping
  • Street Kingdom-everyone SK knew was at the taping. They did free-style the whole time

BABDC Collab the Third

Last Friday, I made a post about the third BABDC Collab that may or may not have been an April Fools Joke. It wasn't.
Ninjaboi Productions proudly presents the third Blogging America's Best Dance Crew Collaboration Video.

Just a couple production notes I wanted to share.
-This video was about 2 months in the making, from conception to completion (though I guess the choice of Yeah 3x as the song was chosen long before).
-I know the credits are really long (almost as long as the collab itself, but please watch it, even through my fail tutting).  If you wish to connect with these dancers, I have included their contact information.
-If the credit dancing doesn't look like it matches the music, it's because I used excess footage from whatever was sent for Yeah 3x that were cut for time purposes.
-The dedication to Japan is something personal for me (though I don't doubt that the other dancers feel the same), but this video was not conceptualized with that intent.  However, I strongly encourage that you continue to help relief efforts.
If you are interested in being in the next collab, it won't be for a while, but email me anyway (provided in the video). Just a note that BABDC members who are agreeable and consistent are more likely to be considered for the next collab.

Finally, I'd like to say thank you (again) to
-Nancy, for being an awesome mod
-All the dancers for participating and putting up with my nagging
-Special thanks to our guest dancers
-Members of the BABDC community who did not dance but have been very supportive of the site as a whole.
-Dance crews for inspiring us to dance
-viewers like you

Isaac's Field Report on 2011 World of Dance Los Angeles

Overall, this was, in my opinion the best World of Dance to date, considering I have been to 4 in the last 2 years, this being my fourth. A few crews that stood out to me are as follows:
--Hype Jrs. - Killed it the way their older brothers and sisters did. It honestly felt like if it was a little cleaner here and there they may have taken it from Emanon, but they used a great mix of grit, strength and signature island flavor.
--Emanon - It seems every year I see this crew, they get better and better. One part that really stood out was the fact that they elaborated off the lightshow idea they did last year and turned it into a full fledged piece, which held some very cool concepts while still throwing in their signature swag.
------------------------------------------------------
Here's the Hype Jr. video (no video posted for Emanon yet). Click here to read the rest of Isaac's report including his review of Hype, GRV, The Company, Quest Crew, and Mos Wanted Crew. And watch many of the performances here. Thanks Isaac!

Videos from World of Dance LA - Watch Quest Crew and the WOD winners Hype!, GRV, The Company

We'll post a field report about World of Dance later today, but there are many great performance videos from the event. Pacific Rim has the best early coverage, with videos of Urban Movement, third place winner The Company, 2nd place winner GRV, and Mos Wanted Crew (we'll post the World of Dance video of their performance later!). Here are two of our favorites from the night: 1st Place winners Hype, and Quest Crew (in exhibition).

If you attend a taping, leave a comment and let us know what it was like -- the judges, the atmosphere, the crowd, the crews, the costumes, celebrities, you name it.

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT -- NO SPOILERS. DO NOT SAY (OR EVEN IMPLY) THE FATE OF ANY OF THE CREWS, INCLUDING WHETHER THEY WERE SAFE, IN SUDDEN DEATH, OR ELIMINATED! Trailer for Honey 2, featuring members of Quest, Beat Freaks, Fanny Pak, Strikers

"Honey 2" not only features some of the more memorable dancers from America's Best Dance Crew, including Quest Crew, Beat Freaks, Fanny Pak, Strikers All-stars, and Super Cr3w.  It uses ABDC (called Battle Zone for the movie) as a plot device, with Mario Lopez as host. Here's the trailer -- are you looking forward to this movie yet?

Video: Meet the members of IaMmE

ABDC6 competitors IaMmE created a video to introduce each of the crew members, give their group and contact information, their motivations for dancing, and talk about whether they'll still be dancing years from now.  This was posted on PacMan Youtube (the channel that was taken down by Youtube earlier, but has been fully restored with all the older IaMmE and other dance videos); the video also mentions that they are starting a PacinMotion Youtube Channel for new dance videos. Thanks for the link, Koopa and LMFAO!

World of Dance LA will probably be Ustreamed live tonight!

World of Dance Los Angeles is scheduled to be streamed live today, barring any last minute issues. If all goes well, the Ustream will begin at 6pm East Coast Time. So, if you're away from California but want to watch Mos Wanted Crew, Quest, Hype 5-0, and many more stellar dancers, click here. Thanks for the tip, Koopa!

MTV will use GroupMe to reach ABDC6 fans

This season MTV and Warner Horizon Television have partnered with GroupMe. Fans who create an ABDC group will begin receiving timely behind-the-scenes video clips and interviews with the dance crews, as well as episodic photo galleries, insider blog posts from MTV’s Remote Control blog, tune-in reminders and more.

Also, fans will be able to engage directly with the dance crews each week throughout the course of the season. To reward fans who create an ABDC group and use it to talk with their friends during each weeks’ premiere, a few lucky groups will receive a special guest “visit” each week from one of the crew members. Crew members will chat and answer users’ questions via text, as well as use the GroupMe instant conference call functionality to initiate a voice call to connect fans with the crews even more directly.

Let me know if any of you take advantage of this. I'll try to coordinate it with our coverage here to maximize everyone's access and enjoyment.

Video: "Mobbed" episode -- Nappytabs choreograph flash mob dance using hundreds of dancers including ABDC alums

The first episode of "Mobbed" on Fox focused on planning a flash mob wedding proposal. Howie Mandel works with Napoleon and Tabitha D'umo, over a thousand dancers (including members of Strikers All-Stars, Glenda from Fanny Pak, and other past ABDC competitors) to make an over-the-top dance to "Everlasting Love". Click here to watch the preview that features Strikers All-Stars. Here's the full episode (the dance routine starts around 28:21). Thanks for the tip, Roberteus!

BABDC Collab the Third Trailer

Exactly 5 months ago, BABDC readers and guest dancers came together in the second BABDC Dance Collab.
Three days from now... well, let the video below speak for itself.

What do you think?  Elaborate April Fools Day Trick?  The Real Deal?  The only way to be sure is to be here, on bloggingbestdancecrew.com, to see how it turns out.  After all, you never know who's gonna be in it.

You Got Served 2011 Trailer

Here's the official trailer for You Got Served 2011. Thanks for the link LMFAO.

D-trix as ABDC Judge -- "a dream and a complete honor"

MTV released a press statement about Dominic Sandoval (aka D-trix) becoming the third judge for America's Best Dance Crew Season 6. Interesting parts of the release:
  • “I am so happy that D-Trix is joining the panel having been a part of one of the greatest dance crews ever. He’s going to be one of the best people to give the crews advice because he’s been there; we couldn’t have anyone better qualified” says executive producer Randy Jackson.
  • D-Trix says, “To think I started off dancing on cardboard in my parent’s garage to now being a judge on “America’s Best Dance Crew” is a dream and a complete honor. As someone who has competed on the ABDC stage, I hope to bring another perspective to the judges’ table and I look forward to helping each dance crew recognize their potential on the show this season.”

787 Crew videos: new dance performance, introduction, and 'secret weapon'

787 Crew will be competing on America's Best Dance Crew Season 6. They have new contact information on Twitter and Facebook.  To help you get to know them better, here are 3 very different videos:

Quest's Dtrix: the third judge for ABDC6

According to MANY tweets, Quest Crew's Dominic 'Dtrix' Sandoval  (a veteran of both ABDC and So You Think You Can Dance) announced on the Ellen Degeneres Show today that he will be the third judge on America's Best Dance Crew this season, joining Lil Mama and JC Chasez. I have seen no confirmation from MTV yet. What do you think of this news -- how well do you think Dtrix will perform as a judge and as a member of the panel?

What questions do you want us to ask the ABDC6 crews?

Chris Trondsen and Brian Puspos will be interviewing crews backstage at both tapings of America's Best Dance Crew this weekend. Leave a comment on some questions you'd like to have answered, either in general or by specific crews. If we use your question, we'll give you credit of course! And, this will be part of a master list; even if we don't use your question this week, it might get asked at the next taping.

Video: World of Dance 2011 promo, with their LA event on April 2

Help EPIC Motion Put on its First Performance Showcase

Ben Fallon of EPIK Motion sent the following note describing their Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to help stage a dance event in New York. If you can, please contribute!

E.P.I.C. Motion Dance Company (Energy and Passion Inspiring Collaborative Motion) has been performing hip-hop sets on the competitive East Coast circuit for 3 years now. After 3 years of growth we've become a company that's much larger then just the hip-hop we've done in the past. Our dancers' backgrounds range from hip-hop, house, jazz, contemporary, classical ballet, waacking to name a few. And now we'd like to show the world what else we're capable of and give our members a chance to create pieces for themselves in a wide variety of styles.

THIS IS WHERE WE NEED YOUR HELP! On April 23rd, we'd like to have our first ever performance showcase featuring works not only from the company's artistic directors, but from company members as well at Peri Dance Center in New York City. Because we're a totally self-funded team, all our current money goes to renting rehearsal space. We need your help to pay for the large cost of renting Theater Space. By donating you'll help us continue to do what we love and help members express their energy and passion and hopefully inspire others to do the same. In addition there are great rewards for donors such as free company classes, DVDs, and EPIC Motion T-Shirts.

Please click here if you would like to make a donation. You can learn more about EPIC Motion at our Facebook and Twitter pages. THANK YOU!!!

Hometown press coverage of ABDC6 crews: ReQuest -- "judges were crying after our audition"

Auckland Stuff talks about New Zealand crew ReQuest and their upcoming appearances on America's Best Dance Crew. Some interesting bits:
  • About their audition: "The judges were crying after we finished and one of the judges said: `That's what dance means to me'."
  • The group is different than the one that performed at Hip Hip International 2010: "Parris says three of the girls left to do their own thing and were replaced with "three girls who really wanted to join Request and they were the best dancers ever".
  • There is a Facebook petition on Facebook to get New Zealand station TV2 to skip airing ABDC Season Five and air next month's season six in support of the New Zealand girls.

Announcing the ABDC6 Elimination Challenge contest!

We will run two contests during America's Best Dance Crew Season 6 which will extend from through the finale. Contest #2: The Elimination Challenge: Which crews will be in the bottom 2 each week? Who will be eliminated? Enter each week and the person with the highest cumulative score for Season 6 will win an ABDC crew shirt of their choice and size (up to $35 retail).

To enter: Each week, we'll publish a new post for this contest. When the weekly post is up, leave a comment with the name of the bottom 2, specifying which one is eliminated. For example, in Season 3, a winning entry for Week 7 would have read: "BOTTOM 2 WEEK 7 - Quest, Fly Khicks. Eliminated: Fly Khicks." For weeks where there is audience voting (probably from Week 3 onward), you will be awarded 1 point for each crew you name in the bottom 2 that week, and an extra point for identifying the eliminated crew, for a total of 3 possible points per week.

NOTE: For the first entry, please name the two crews that you think will be eliminated during the first TWO episodes. Because we're not sure of the shows' format, we will only count the crews that are eliminated those 2 weeks, not the ones in the bottom that make it to another week. Each correct answer will count for 2 points, for a possible total of 4 points. If the eliminations run differently, I reserve the right to change the judging criteria for that 2-week period. Deadline for this first entry: midnight April 2, 2011. UPDATE: THE FIRST WEEK CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED AND NO MORE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Once we get past the Episode 2 airing on April 14 and in all future weeks, entries will be accepted from Friday (after the episode airs and I put up a new post for the contest) until Midnight (Pacific Time) the Monday afterwards, so that nobody can use insider info from the Tuesday tapings. **IMPORTANT**:

  • Create a user name you will use every week for the entire contest, and make it memorable (not just a common first name or word). I can't track email addresses, and if it's difficult for me to track votes, they won't be counted.
  • MAKE SURE YOU INCLUDE THE WORDS 'BOTTOM 2' in the comment (so I can search for them easily).
Only 1 entry per person per week, please.  Good luck!
