Enter the next round of our elimination challenge now!

The Elimination Challenge: Which crews will be in the bottom 2 each week and which one will be eliminated? Enter each week; the person with the highest cumulative score for Season 6 wins an ABDC crew shirt of their choice and size (up to $35 value). To enter: Each week, we'll publish a new post for this contest. When the weekly post is up, leave a comment with the names of the bottom 2, specifying which one is eliminated. For example, in Season 3, a winning entry for Week 7 would have read: "BOTTOM 2 WEEK 7 - Quest, Fly Khicks. Eliminated: Fly Khicks." From now on, you will be awarded 1 point for each crew you name in the bottom 2 that week, and an extra point for identifying the eliminated crew, for a total of 3 possible points per week.  This week's deadline: midnight on Monday May 16, 2011.

**IMPORTANT**: Create a user name you will use every week for the entire contest, and make it memorable (not just a common first name or word). I can't track email addresses, and if it's difficult for me to track votes, they won't be counted.

The contest here has gotten much closer in the last week. One person has 8 points (I'm looking at you, Zeke-ish!) but MANY others have 6 or 7 points. And, there is still a chance for anyone to win it. So, get to it!

Video: Dashaun Wesley (Vogue Evolution) profiled in XEX Magazine

Members of Vogue Evolution (ABDC Season 4) are still active on the dance scene. XEX Magazine recently profiled Dashaun Wesley, including information on how he got started in the ballroom scene, their ABDC experience, and his other activities. The article included a short video of Dashaun's dance.

US Dance Crews: act fast for a chance to be featured on British TV show about hiphop dance!

Organizers of the XXL UK Dance Championships are working with a major UK television network to bring one of the best UK groups to the US to spend time with a US crew and finally have a 3 minute showdown against the US crew in a USA v UK spectacle for television. Click here for info about the XXL UK Dance Championships.

They expect to film in the U.S. the last week of July 2011. They need to find the US crew in the next seven days since their series producer and production manager are due to fly out soon to meet and prep the selected crew.

Crew qualifications: As the crew will be representing the USA they would need to have a credible background, perhaps notable achievements or appearances. The crew may have a max of 16 members. We are looking for over 18 years though its fine if a number of members are a year or two younger. Ideally, they would love crews from New York or even LA, but also welcome interest from all crews at this stage.

If you're interested, email the production team ASAP: info@streetdancexxl.com

Dance's Review of ABDC's Justin Bieber Challenge

Hey Everyone! This week all the crews had the extremely difficult task of dancing to music by Justin Bieber. It was an arduous task and all of the crews had to work extra hard to make this week look good. Street Kingdom prevailed and they are aiming for the ABDC trophy. Street Kingdom are great dancers and their performance this week was my favorite of the night. Instant Noodles had their best performance this week and I wish they could have stayed longer in the competition, but they definitely left on a high note. I'm proud of Instant Noodles and I know they have a great career ahead of them. Some crews did better than others and Street Kingdom definitely came and put on a great performance for the crowd. Which performance was your favorite of the night? Who do you want to see make it into the finale? Let me know in the comments section!  Click here to read the full review.

Belated ABDC Justin Bieber Challenge Party Room/Critics Corner now open -- Join US

The Party Room/Critics Corner for ABDC 6's  Justin Bieber Challenge is now open! So what if it's 24 hours late due to ridiculous software problems?  Join me and readers as they rave and vent on the best and worst parts of this episode, America's Best Dance Crew in general, Justin Bieber, and other things that I can't predict. IMPORTANT: If you want to write a long comment, write in in NotePad or Word and then paste it into the comments field. Otherwise, all your work may disappear if someone posts something new while you're in the middle of writing. Note: click here for last night's impromptu party room postings. Thanks Lawrence!

This is your party --  humor, nostalgia and almost everything else (except personal attacks/disrespect not related to the dancing itself,  spam, and obscenity-- Please read our guidelines on this!) are expected and welcome.

Enter the next round of our ABDC Top 4 Contest now!

Thanks to all of you who submitted entries on which ABDC crews will be in the top 4 at the end of this season, in the order of their elimination. If you want to change your vote, here's your weekly chance. Note: there's no penalty for entering each week, but I will only count your last vote of the week. If you get it right early, that's the vote that counts! The prize goes to the first person to submit the correct answer, based on which week they submit it. If more than one person gets it right that week, we'll employ a tie-breaker rule.  Click here for contest rules and prizes.

Well, a lot of you were surprised by the results this week -- 72% of last week's votes were wrong, and there's only 2 left from before that!  So, you probably will want to enter again! Just leave a comment below with your name and your picks, and you're in for another round.  Deadline for this round: midnight on Monday May 16. Good luck!

JustAnABDCFan's Review of ABDC's Justin Bieber Challenge

The Superstar for this Week:  Justin Bieber
Subject of the Week for Review: BOY BANDS AND THEIR HITS
OH SNAP. We are getting for real now. The less crews there are, the more ridiculous I can get. And since this week we seem to be celebrating the teen heartthrob sensation known as “The Justin Bieber”, I decided to one up him with MULTIPLE…cute boy sensations. That’s right ladies and gentlemen, this week, we kick it OLD school, and hash out some of the greatest boy bands in history to compare the crews to (and their hit songs)! If you’re ready, I encourage you to read on, and if you want, sing a little too

Note: Every week I’ll be putting a humorous spin on my evaluations by choosing a random subject to help entertain you, and acclimate (or not) my thoughts on each individual crew.  So, onto the review! Click here to read the full review.

Send some love to Instant Noodles

From Ninjaboi:
First off, thanks to Nancy for letting me write this week’s “Send Some Love” post.

Instant Noodles.  They’ve definitely one of the most unique bboy crews that the show’s ever had. While they definitely have power moves despite what some have claimed, they’ve also highlighted previously underappreciated aspects of the art, creating awesome visuals and footwork, rocking the beat, as well as showing a deep understanding of dance as a whole.  You’ve shown the world a different side of bboying, and have inspired at least one bboy who feared tackling power moves to take that plunge and start dancing. (Hint: That bboy’s name begins with N and ends with injaboi.)  Aside from dancing, they’ve always been really open and funny when interacting with fans, proving to be quite the characters both on and off the stage.  Am I sad they’re gone?  Yeah.  Am I proud of the way they repped themselves, as well as the larger bboy community? Even more so. I definitely look forward to seeing where these guys go in the future.  Hip Hop International, Battle of the Year.  Who knows?  All I can ask for is to serve me up another cup of them Instant Noodles. OH MYYYYY

This post is only for positive comments about Instant Noodles. All other comments will be deleted.!

Crazed Beats' Nonspoiler report: ABDC's Justin Bieber Taping

Hey guys, back from the Justin Bieber episode!! I thought this episode was going to be a FAIL since its Justin Bieber, but I actually enjoyed it very much! All the challenges were based off of Bieber's movie "Never Say Never" and what he did in the movie. I know it's kinda a weird way to give challenges. But anyways, lets get started. Click here to read the full report.

BABDC Site guidelines: Commenting guidelines

We'd like to clarify our guidelines on comments for this site in order to keep the discussion entertaining but not abusive. Here are policies recommended by Ninjaboi and other readers. Feel free to add others in the comments!
************************************
--No spoiling - Any hinting of spoiling (with regard to eliminations), even if its false will be deleted.  If you know a crew's fate, keep it to yourself.
-- No racism/sexism/ageism or related nonsense
--No ad hominem attacks about other commenters/dancers. Example of what we don't want here: "you're probably some stupid little 13 year old pervert who's never danced in his life"
--No spamming (in any language) - This includes using multiple personalities/usernames that potentially can be used to deceive others.
--Keep it Relevant, e.g, in a post about sending love to Request, do not post a complaint about another crew
--Proper grammar desired, though not necessarily expected.  Still, it helps make you more credible
--A grain of salt with what you read.  It's the internet people, not everyone is serious all the time.  Sarcasm does exist.  If you're not having fun on this site, you're doing it wrong.  And be ready to face people who disagree with you.
--Profanity used as insult will not be tolerated (the f*ckers), but profanity for emphasis (f*cking awesome) will be depending on the level of usage
--Show general respect for individuals.  You can disagree with what someone says or dislike a crew's choreo, but that gives you no right to insult someone or a group of people in general.

--CAPSLOCK IS NOT CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL!!!

Ninjaboi's review of ABDC's Rihanna Challenge

First off, apologies ahead of time if this review isn’t up to my normal standards.  I’m in my last week of finals (and last week of watching the show on MTV!), so I haven’t had as much time to write things out.  I’ve still thought about my scores and such as much, I just may not be able to elaborate on the details as much as in previous weeks.

Also, just in case you don’t read all the way to the bottom, I’ll put this here.  Shoutouts to Instant Noodles for giving me a shoutout in the post-show interview!  (click here to watch).  Shoutouts to Phunk for reading my reviews (I’m honored, really).  Shoutout to 787 crew for keeping it classy (but more on that later).  And last but not least, shoutout to ICONic Boyz.  I know I haven’t been your most ardent supporter, but I can’t really hate someone who’s doing what they love.  Apologies if anything I’ve said hurt you guys’s feelings, and I’ll try to keep myself in check from now on.  “It is better to be hated for who you are than to be loved for who you are not.”  Click here to read the full review.

More Recaps from the Rihanna Challenge

  • We'll Fix it In  wants to see some superstars show up already. And, they're up to their usual snarky goodness about the crews
  • Much Music (the Canadian airer of ABDC) has its own recap with opinions and good photos
  • JC Chasez-net is incredibly cranky about the crews, the judges (well, most of them), and the voting public
  • Psycho Pixie is a little let down after the Katy Perry Challenge and predicts that ICONic Boyz will be in the finale

Zekeish's review of the Rihanna Challenge

Hooray! The Rihanna episode review is upon us (Or in Mario Lopez’s case, Ree-ann-uh). This episode was about even with last week’s episode in terms of greatness. Back to back great episodes are a very good thing to see, epically since we are getting closer and closer to the finale. Aside from Mario’s constant mispronunciation of the artist of the week’s name, we saw some crazy flips and tricks and we saw some mind blowing visuals. The mixes this week were (once again) very good, and the dancehall challenges added an interesting twist to each of the crew’s performance.  Some of the crews didn’t really attack their challenges; others knocked it out of the ballpark. Well, here’s to another sarcastic, brutally honest and heartfelt review. Pour some sugar on your donut and find your favorite umbrella ella ella, because it’s REVIEWIN TYME! Click here to read the full review.

An apology from Nancy T of BloggingBestDanceCrew to ICONic Boyz

Dear ICONic Boyz and members of the ICONic Family,

I want to apologize to you personally for the behavior of many members of this community toward ICONic Boyz. I have been trying to keep it fair and professional but have not done nearly enough, and it's gotten out of control. We've banned some of the worst offenders and will continue to do so. I want to make it clear that I do not condone any of the harsh negativity that has been directed towards the crew here or elsewhere.

It's been a difficult balance for me. I want to encourage free speech, but it needs to stay constructive and helpful. This is a competition, and as such, readers are encouraged to talk about why they like or dislike performances, so long as they keep it from getting personal.  All of my reviewers will attest to my work to tone down negative criticism when it gets away from that standard, and I will do more on that front in the future.

ICONic Boyz was chosen for America's Best Dance Crew because they meet the high standards of dance required by the audition judges and MTV producers. In addition, they are fun, enthusiastic, and inspirational to many viewers. I've heard that they are great friends with all this season's crews for good reason. Further, as pointed out in many of this week's reviews, they ARE responding to the judges' critiques and working to improve week-by-week.  I encourage anyone (including members of the ICONic Family) to contact me at BloggingBestDanceCrew@gmail.com if you want to discuss this further but don't want to post in the comments here.

Exclusive Video: IaMmE talk about how they work together and inspire each other

In this interview done after the taping of ABDC's Rihanna Challenge, IaMmE talk about the group dynamics -- how they come up with concepts and choreography and how each of them strengthens and inspires the other. Thanks to MOVeMEDIA for this season's camera and production work!

Video: Street Kingdom opens up

Chris Trondsen and Riquel Olander (We Are Heroes) talked to Street Kingdom after the ABDC Rihanna taping. While our other interviews with them have focused more on their dancing, this was a great opportunity to get to know the members better and see how they interact. They talk about their reactions to the judges' feedback, their personal relationships (with the revelation of an inter-crew crush!), and one member takes on the challenge of impersonating another. Thanks to MOVeMEDIA for the camera and production work!

Post-taping video: Instant Noodles are slaves to the music and shout out our readers

Riquel Olander (We are Heroes) and Chris Trondsen talk to Instant Noodles after the taping of ABDC's Rihanna Challenge. Topics: getting saved first this week, learning each week how to work on ABDC, the odd wardrobe choices for the week, having Dtrix on their side so that the bboying can be explained to the public, how they NEVER stop working on planning for the show, and how they prepare for challenges. And, they thank the fans, particularly Ninjaboi! Thanks to MOVeMEDIA Productions for the camera and tech work!

JustAnABDCFan's Review of ABDC's Rihanna Challenge

Every week I’ll be putting a humorous spin on my evaluations by choosing a random subject to help entertain you, and acclimate (or not) my thoughts on each individual crew. For example, one week might be “Mortal Kombat Week” for me, because I felt like it, so I would assign every crew a Mortal Kombat character to help depict what I thought of their performance. For example, Phunk Phenomenon might be Scorpion one week, because they’re just SO HOT in that performance that they will CEASE to die out. Or something like that.
--------------------------
The Superstar for this Week: Rihanna
Subject of the Week for Review: The Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers
“GO HARRRRD YEAAA YEAA YEAAA”, ok Rihanna, I get it, you can sound like a siren sometimes, and your voice is loud. Stop it, I’m trying to write here. Anyway, this week’s subject is THE POWER RANGERS. Yeah, you know, those guys (and girls) that wore those crazy outfits and used pose-y martial arts skills to beat up awkward creatures. Click here for the full review.
