America's Best Dance Crew judge JC Chasez appeared on Access Hollywood on April 18, 2012. He joked with the hosts, then talked about how hard it is to send a crew home, what he's looking for (creativity, execution, crowd response) when judging, working with Randy Jackson, how he was one of the best dancers in 'N Sync, and moving on after 'N Sync.

JC Chasez: saves a child's life on the beach!

People Magazine reports that America's Best Dance Crew judge JC Chasez "proved himself a hero on New Year's Day on a Miami beach when he saved the life of a 1-year-old girl after a helicopter flying too close to the ground sent an umbrella flying across the sand." The story also reports that JC was "sweet and humble" about his heroism. I've met JC, and  I can't imagine him being any other way. Way to go JC!

Dominic Sandoval (D-trix) talked backstage to our interviewers Chris Trondsen and Brian Puspos at the double taping on April 3 for America's Crew Season 6. We have two videos we can show now -- one from before the first taping (for the show that airs on April 14) and another before the second taping. In the first, D-trix describes the audition process for judges, how he heard that he was picked, what it feels like to work with Lil Mama, JC Chasez and Mario Lopez; and which crew he's especially looking forward to watching this season. Quest's Dtrix: the third judge for ABDC6

According to MANY tweets, Quest Crew's Dominic 'Dtrix' Sandoval  (a veteran of both ABDC and So You Think You Can Dance) announced on the Ellen Degeneres Show today that he will be the third judge on America's Best Dance Crew this season, joining Lil Mama and JC Chasez. I have seen no confirmation from MTV yet. What do you think of this news -- how well do you think Dtrix will perform as a judge and as a member of the panel?

Tickets for the first two ABDC tapings now available on 1iota.com

1iota.com is the place to go if you want to be in the studio audience for America's Best Dance Crew. They now have tickets available for the taping of the first two shows. Both are on Sunday April 3 in the afternoon. I don't know if this means that taping will shift to Sundays this season. Click here for information and to get your tickets.

The site lists ABDC 'guests': Mario Lopez, J. C. Chasez, and Lil Mama. No mention of Omarion or another 'guest'.

Mailbox: BreakEFX at Taste of Colorado, JC Chasez collaborates with Glee's

- BreakEFX (ABDC Season 5) participated in Taste of Colorado in August 2010. The Denver Post printed this excellent photo from the event
- MTV.com reports that America's Best Dance Crew judge JC Chasez collaboratged on a track called "Dancing in the Rain" with Glee star Matthew Morrison. Said Morrison, "It turned out really well. He's such a good songwriter."

Enter Week 8 of ABDC Master Mix Contest now!

We're at Week 8 of our 12-week ABDC Master Mix Contest, completely created by Dirtface X. In this variant on Name that Tune, our video contains a sample of an ABDC Master Mix, followed by a judge's comment about the routine. Your challenge: identify the tune AND the crew who performed it. You can use the tune name announced by Mario Lopez, instead of trying to identify the name of the exact song in the clip.. The mixes were prepared by District78.com (though only the Season 5 mixes are currently on their website). Full episodes of the programs can be found on MTV.com. Poreotix appeared at Myx Mash in San Francisco on May 22, 2010 along with T-Pain, Brown Eyed Girls, and Bruno Mars. Jonas Approved has a review along with some great photos (like the one above). Froiboimon Youtube Channel has a video of Poreotix group performance with a sound mix that incorporated quotes from America's Best Dance Crew judges JC Chasez, Omarion, and Lil Mama, with some Kanye West thrown in.
