More ABDC alums performing in Las Vegas: Zoeth (Afroborike) in Peepshow with Coco (Ice loves Coco)

I had heard nothing about the fate of Afroborike members (runners up on America's Best Dance Crew Season 4) until now. Turns out, Zoeth Cardenales has been a member of Las Vegas' Peepshow for the last two years, currently starring with Coco Austen (half of the Ice Loves Coco reality show). ABDC fans can catch up with their favorite alums in shows like Jabbawockeez' PriSM, and Cirque du Soleil's Michael Jackson ONE (with 787 Crew), as well as crew alums competing at Hip Hop Internatioal in August. 

As she describes in this Las Vegas Sun article, Zoeth performs topless in the show, with roles including Lemonade and the swing for Mutha G. Watch highlights of the show below, if you dare.

On the Top 18 So You Think You Can Dance Season 10 show, BluPrint escaped elimination and danced with Mariah to M.I.A's "Bring The Noize". Luther Brown choreographed this frantic routine. Unfortunately, Jade (the other animator in SYTYCD Top 18) left the show because of injury.

Keone and Mariel Madrid have joined the choreographer pool at So You Think You Can Dance. Their routine in the Top 18 show for Season 10 was choreographing Jenna and Tucker dancing to Michael Jackson's "Dangerous". Video Flashback: Philippine Allstars on the America's Best Dance Crew stage in 2008!

In 2008, after Philippine Allstars won the World Championship at Hiphop International, they traveled to Los Angeles and danced on the America's Best Dance Crew stage during one of the tapings. Hip Hop International -- who's competing this year?

Hip Hop International released the lists of United States and World competitors for this year, and the talent is amazing in all divisions. Here's the United States list and the International list. 
HHI runs August 6-11 in Las Vegas. If you can, you should try to attend -- definitely the finals, but all the events if possible. DirtfaceX will interview some of the dancers for us, but there's no substitute for the live event. Click here for the schedule and to buy tickets!

World's Oldest Crew - "Hip Op-eration Crew" - to perform at HHI 2013

SYTYCD results w/ videos: Emilio (IaMmE) chosen for top 20 but sidelined; 4 other hiphop/animators make it

The top 20 have been announced for Season 10 of So You Think You Can Dance. Last week, we reported that six hiphop dancers and animators were in the top 33, the pool from which the show would choose the dancers to be featured each week. Five of the six were chosen for the top 10: Emilio 'Millie' Dosal (member of America's Best Dance Crew Season 6's IaMmE), Mariah Spears, Dorian Bluprint Hector, Fik-Shun Stegal, and Jade Zuberi.

Unfortunately, Emilio was injured during the rehearsals for the opening show and will not appear this season. Here's hoping he recovers soon! 

The show featured separate performances by the hiphop duo that was left - Maria Spears and Fik-shun, and by the animators. Other show highlights: the top 10 guys routine was a nifty dance using sand (click here to watch) and the top 10 girls used a version of "Let's Have a Kiki" recorded by ABDC's Fanny Pak with District 78 (click here to watch)

Two have antecedents to America's Best Dance Crew - 1st Prize winner Academy of Phresh (part of the group that created ABDC2's Phresh Select) and 3rd place winner Static Noyze (including some dancers from ABDC Season 5). So You Think You Can Dance aired its Las Vegas week episode, cutting the field down over 100 dancers to 33. Next week we hear the top 20. Among the choices are Emilio 'Millie' Dosal of IaMmE (America's Best Dance Crew Season 6 winners), and 5 other interesting hip hop or animation dancers: Mariah Spears, Markus Shields, Dorian Bluprint Hector, Fik-Shun Stegal, and Jade Zuberi. Of the group, I am pretty sure that Fik-Shun will be chosen for the top 20, and I hope that Emilio and some of the others make it as well.

More hiphop successes at America's Got Talent: Dragon House's Blueprint

Last year, Dragon House sent three hiphop dancers to the So You Think You Can Dance auditions. This year, the only dancer from the House that was shown was Dorian 'Blueprint' Hector. He moved on to Las Vegas. The show also featured Jasmine Harper, the ex-girlfriend of Cyrus (the Dragon House member who came in second last season). Her style was more contemporary, but very impressive -- she is also going to the Las Vegas round.

-John Tesoriero is a crew member for UPrising at Boston College. He brought in a street beatboxer for his audition, which was one of the more creative ones I've seen in a while. I'm not sure why he didn't get sent straight to Las Vegas, but he was cut after the choreography round.

Ernest 'E-knock' Phillips (leader of America's Best Dance Crew's Status Quo and Legendary 7) made it to the choreography rounds for So You Think You Can Dance. He performed a very moving solo about the recent death of his cousin. I'm not sure why he went to choreography when other hip hop dancers with similar talent went through to Las Vegas.

Video: 8 Flavahz members back up Zendaya on Dancing with the Stars Finale

On this weeks' finale of Dancing with the Stars, Angel and Charlize of 8 Flavahz (America's Best Dance Crew Season 7) were recruited to work with Zendaya on the SuperSize Freestyle (which was a fusion of cha cha, contemporary and hiphop styles). Video: Millie (IaMmE) successfully auditions for So You Think You Can Dance

Another ABDC alum who auditioned for this season's So You Think You Can Dance was Emilio 'Millie' Dosal (member of America's Best Dance Crew Season 6's IaMmE). He was sent to the choreography round and was given the ticket to Las Vegas. Phllip 'Pacman' Chbeeb (another IaMmE member who was very successful in an earlier SYTYCD season) was in the audience rooting Millie on, and the segment shows IaMmE dancing together.

Video: So You Think You Can Dance audition from Slick (Ringmasters)

The second night of Los Angeles auditions for So You Think You Can Dance started with a bonebreak dance by Nicholas 'Slick' Stewart (member of America's Best Dance Crew Season 3's Ringmasters). He made it to the choreography round but was not sent to Las Vegas (unlike Shane Garcia who auditioned in Austin with bonebreaking and other hip hop moves, looked to do slightly less well in the choreo round but has a moving background story about overcoming a stutter through dance and thus made it to Vegas.)

Hip hop Video highlights from So You Think You Can Dance Detroit Auditions: tWitch, auditioners Jade and

So You Think You Can Dance held auditions in Detroit for the first time in its 10 season history. Some of the standouts who were profiled on the show include wave dancer Jade Zuberi (who was sent immediately to the Las Vegas round), Sysko (who made it to the choreo round but was eliminated for not sticking to the routine) and a solo by guest judge tWitch.

Michael Jackson: One (including ABDC alums) set to open June 29 in Las Vegas

Cirque du Soleil and the Estate of Michael Jackson unveiled Michael Jackson ONE, a new creation to open exclusively at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. Directed by Jamie King, Michael Jackson ONE will start its preview performances on May 23, 2013 and have its media premiere on June 29.

Hiphop videos from So You Think You Can Dance Season 10 LA auditions, incl. Bboy Morris, Fik-shun

So You Think You Can Dance has started up again. On May 14, 2013 they aired footage from the Los Angeles auditions. Among the hiphop highlights: an audition by street performer Fik-shun who was given an immediate ticket to the Las Vegas round, and Bboy Morris (member of Fallen Kings, winner at UK Bboy of the Year and high place finisher at Redbull BC One) who made it to the choreography round but didn't advance. IMO -- the two should have been treated equally -- either both in the choreo round or both through to Vegas.

Shane Sparks - setting the record straight on his views about Wade Robson being molested by Michael Jackson

There has been a lot of buzz in the last week -- seems like Perez Hilton didn't fully quote Shane Sparks when it reported that Shane believed Michael Jackson molested Wade Robson (a charge made by Wade to TMZ). The full quote in today's PerezHilton.com:  
"Wow! TMZ can't wait to destroy a person's reputation.They call me for a statement about Wade and Michael and I told them this is hard because I respect both of them. I know Wade personally and Michael through his music. I have so much respect for Michael that's why I wanted to make a statement. I told them I'm on the fence on this because I wasn't there, so I don't know what's true. I did tell them I saw gifts from Michael which is normal for Michael to do (nothing weird about that) and that Wade took us to the NeverLand but that's it. I never took a side on who I believed."

Beat Freaks to pay tribute to "In Living Color's" Fly Girls

The Examiner has an exclusive interview with Carrie Ann Inaba, judge for Dancing with the Stars. Inaba talks about her career, mentioning that she got her start as one of the Fly Girls on "In Living Color". And, she states the Fly Girls will be getting back together soon because Beat Freaks (runners up for America's Best Dance Crew Season 3) will be paying tribute to them. Read it here.
