SYTYCD crew competition: help support hiphop by tweeting #sytycdPoreotics

So You Think You Can Dance has added some group dance to the audition shows, but America's Best Dance Crew fans may not be fully entertained. The two dance groups featured on the first show were Poreotics (winners of ABDC Season 5) vs. Syncopated Ladies (an East Coast tap dance group). The winners will be chosen by volume of twitter mentions with the hashtags #sytycdPoreotics vs #sytycdladies. Given the demographics for this show, it is not surprising that the tap dance women were way ahead in the voting by the end of the episode.

If you want to help out Poreotics (or Syncopated Ladies), get in there now and tweet or vote online here! Voting closes on Tuesday June 3 at 8pm ET. We'll post videos of the performances once they are available.

Poreotics will compete on So You Think You Can Dance on May 28!

Follow-up to our last story -- Poreotics Iwinners of America's Best Dance Crew Season 5) tweeted that they will be appearing on So You Think You Can Dance's first episode this season, on Fox TV May 28.

It'll be great to see them again and to see how their style has evolved. I'm curious how SYTYCD is choosing the crews -- will there be mostly tried-and-true dancers or add some crews new to TV, will they use crews that feature some of their dancers (e.g., Quest, IaMmE), what geographies will they draw from? This is not a criticism -- any wide exposure of dancers has the potential to help the dance community. More please! Thank for the update Ninjaboi!

TV Dance Crew news: So You Think You Can Dance auditions will feature a dance crew competition!

Shades of America's Best Dance Crew redux.  In a brand new element on So You Think You Can Dance, Justin Bieber and his choreographer Nick DeMoura will introduce top dance crews from across the country that will vie for a spot on the season finale.

Beginning next week on the two-hour season premiere, airing Wednesday, May 28 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX, Bieber and DeMoura will showcase two dance crews on each of the four audition episodes. After the crews are showcased, hash tags will be revealed that viewers can use to tweet their favorite of the two crews. The tweets will be tallied and the most popular crew overall will be invited to perform on the finale
.

We don't know yet who will compete. But stay tuned -- maybe this will bode well for dance crews. Thanks for the tip Ninjaboi!
