Dance@Hero (aka Japan's Best Dance Crew): Round 2 results and videos

Ant M is following Dance@Hero (aka Japan's Best Dance Crew, and filed a report:
I gotta be honest, Dance@Hero is the next best thing to waiting on ABDC 7.They had week 2 this past Saturday, and to be honest the scores kinda went topsy-turvy, some of the powerhouse last week fell kinda hard (Mainly Twiggz Fam and Melange) and some crews came up big (Mainly Beat Buddy Boi and surprisingly Victoria.). Anyways I believe they just released the scores for Week 2 and it went sorta like this...

Week 2 Scores (and videos):
100 Points: Beat Buddy Boi
80 Points: Time Machine
60 Points: Vigorous Ladies
40 Points: Victoria
20 Points: Twiggz Fam
0 Points: Area Rock Styler, Bear Knuckle, Melange, Saturday Players (Who I still think had a way better week), and of course everyone's favorite jabronis Team Black Star.

Overall Standings:
1st: Time Machine: 180 Points
2nd: Beat Buddy Boi: 140 Points
3rd: Vigorous Ladies: 120 Points

Thanks Ant M! Readers -- you too can subscribe to get updated to each round of videos at the Youtube channel (and help your favorite crew win) at [DANCEHEROjp]

Steelo fundraiser: Upcoming dance event with JabbaWockeeZ, LXD, Beat Freaks and much more

On December 6, 2011, members of the dance community are holding a major fundraiser to help fellow dancer Richard 'Steelo' Vazquez. Among the performers: JabbaWockeeZ, Super Cr3w, Beat Freaks, The LXD, the Groovaloos, Twitch (So You Think You Can Dance), Flomaster of Footwork Fanatix, and Killafornia. Tickets go on sale November 4; full information at Steelo444.com. (Thanks for the tip, Greg).

From the website: Steelo Vazquez has been a major part of the L.A. dance community -- a member of Killafornia, Footwork Fanatix, and The Groovaloos and a lead character on The LXD. He regularly gave back to the community through dance at benefits and fundraisers and has mentored  youth at weekly Groove Nights hosted by The Groovaloos. In addition, he worked with Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna and Gwen Stefani.

On June 19, 2011, Steelo suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm and had to undergo emergency surgery. During the operation he suffered a 2nd rupture. By the end of numerous surgeries, Steelo had suffered four ruptures and lost his ability to walk and speak. Today, Steelo remains in an extensive rehabilitation program where doctors are helping him relearn basic functions.

The goal of the fundraiser is to raise enough funds that will allow Penelope to assist Steelo with his recovery, focus on raising their little boy, Elijah and help her with the increasing medical costs. Any excess of donations beyond their needs will go into a trust account to help another family in need in our dance community. So -- buy tickets!! I cannot be there but will definitely contribute.

Free Bieber Campaign: Say No To S.978!

S.978, a new bill in Congress, makes it a felony to post videos that contain copyright-infringing music, with up to FIVE YEARS in prison for violators. This affects Youtube singers, musicians, vloggers, and gaming/movie channels.

However, this new bill would especially hurt DANCERS. Dancers, who post videos of choreography to any official single from an artist, would immediately be in violation of this law. The growth of Youtube artists would be severely stunted. Please help stop this ridiculous oppression of artists and sign this petition against the bill, [Here]

*This campaign name was inspired by the clever folks at Fight for the Future, who noticed that this law would have put Justin Bieber in jail, since he launched his career by posting videos of himself singing R&B tunes, in violation of copyright.

Return of the ABDC Blowup Week 3: Enter now!

Back for week 3 of our RETURN OF THE ABDC Blowups.  We're bringing back some of our favorite images -- but you'll have to look CLOSELY! In this contest, we've blown up parts of photos from ABDC Seasons 1-6. All images can be found somewhere on MTV.com. Your task: Name that crew.

Rules: This contest will go on for several weeks, and the person with the highest cumulative number of answers will win a Tshirt, iTunes certificate or other merchandise of his/her choice, worth up to $30. If there is a tie, we will randomly choose the winner. To make it a little harder, we are disabling the comments for the contest posts. Send your answer to abdccontest@gmail.com; we will NOT confirm whether you have the right answer. Please do not post your answer in on this site or elsewhere -- we want to keep this fair. If I find that you've posted the answer online, you are permanently disqualified from the contest and banned from all comments. Answers for this week's puzzle must be received by midnight October 29, 2011.

Here's this week's image and a clue with VERY DELIBERATELY chosen words: "Best dance crew? Maybe, maybe not, but America says they got talent"

Big thanks to Bboyworld for sharing this!
