Video: Portlan (Britains Got Talent Winners aka Nemisis) dance on "Invisible"

The year before Diversity beat out Susan Boyle to win Britain's Got Talent, a dance crew called Nemisis reached to the final stages on BGT. Nemisis has re-shaped, re-formed and re-named themselves as 5 piece Portlan, and recently released a song and video called "Invisible". Stick with it; the dancing starts out simple but gets more interesting as the video progresses.

THE LXD will also be available through Voddler in Scandinavia, Tsutaya TV in Japan and PPW in Thailand.

THE LXD began its international roll out on August 23rd in Scandinavia, Norway, Denmark and Finland through the Video-on-Demand service Voddler. Starting today, RedLever will deliver the series on a free, ad-supported basis through the Joost Video Network, a destination, syndication and promotion network, bringing THE LXD to hundreds of millions of Internet users globally. The Joost player will also be embedded on THE LXD’s Facebook page and www.thelxd.com providing even greater access to the series. Distribution to the United Kingdom, Australia, Spain and France is anticipated to roll out late 2010 with additional promotion and distribution partners. Tsutaya TV will launch Download-to-Own and Video-on-Demand to web connected consumer electronics devices on October 8th in Japan. And, later this year, in Thailand, PPW will launch LXD on multiple platforms. Further releases of THE LXD are scheduled to occur in Malaysia and other remaining territories through additional distributors throughout the beginning of 2011.

Video: Poreotics' Can Nguyen collaborates with Tony Nguyen on 'Pushing the Limits'

A collaboration between two Nguyens: musician Tony's 'Pushing the Limits' music with Poreotics' Can's choreography. Though their art appears quite different, I find the results almost hypnotizing. And (to answer the next question), I do not know if they are related. From the SteveNguyenFlipHD Youtube Channel.

The end is HERE. We're at Week 12 of our 12-week ABDC Master Mix Contest, completely created by Dirtface X. In this variant on Name that Tune, our video contains a sample of an ABDC Master Mix, followed by a judge's comment about the routine. Your challenge: identify the tune AND the crew who performed it. For those of you who have trouble watching the videos, here's the judge's comment.  Lil Mama: "...I love your energy."

UPDATE: News on ABDC Season 6 not definite, but hopeful

Early this morning, District 78 retweeted, withdrawing their earlier post about America's Best Dance Crew Season 6: "We really don't know if there's #abdc6 but we hope so. We also didn't know that anyone read our tweets :) ."

What does it mean? No answers for certain and I have no definite insider information myself. But for many reasons I would tend to believe the earlier tweet. Please leave a comment (anonymously if needed, but PLEASE don't lie): what do YOU think? Do you have any good perspective or information that would you to believe/disbelieve there will be a new season of ABDC in 2011?

Monday, September 27, 2010

Yes, there MAY be an America's Best Dance Crew Season 6!

According to District 78's Twitter, America's Best Dance Crew will be coming back in 2011: "It's so hot, how about some good news. #ABDC6 Is going to happen. 2011 and hopefully with nicer weather".
UPDATE: They've retweeted saying that they have no definite information.

This corresponds to several rumors I had heard about auditions in late 2010. If you've got other news, leave it in the comments.   And thanks for the tip, DirtfaceX and Jon!

Here's something to help you start the week: Scotty Nguyen and Tracy Shibata show some other-wordly steps in this video to Usher's "There Goes My Baby" from the Scottynguyen Youtube Channel. VH1's Dance Slam Cam wants YOU -- audition now!

VH1 is looking for talented and entertaining dancers from across the country to participate in a new weekly, multi-platform dance competition show. "Dance Cam Slam" is an all new VH1 original TV series where individual dancers and groups compete live via their home web cam for a chance to win a weekly prize of $5,000. "Dance Cam Slam" premieres on VH1 Tuesday, October 26 at 10:00 PM ET/PT*. Anyone with a web cam and a high speed internet connection can audition at Dancecamslamcasting.vh1.com.

Each half-hour episode of "Dance Cam Slam," will consist of three rounds.  In the first two rounds contestants dance simultaneously to the same pop song on their home web cams. Their judges score the performances and declare a winner. The third and final round pits the winners from the night's first two rounds against last week's champion. Contestants will all appear in individual windows on a giant video screen in our Los Angeles studio. Judges score the dancers based on the overall entertainment value of their performance on a scale of one to ten and the best combined score moves on.

During the final round, viewers at home will vote live at on the Dance Cam website and by text messaging on VH1 Mobile to determine which of the three finalists will win the $5,000 cash prize and return the next week to defend the crown. Viewers at home can also comment on the dancers live via Twitter and possibly even see their tweets appear in the show.

Chris Bata's Field report and video: Hype 5-0 at BoogieZone NJ

Chris Bata commented on his experience at Hype 5-0's workshop at BoogieZone NJ:

Josh and Casey's Boogiezone class was actually the 2 year anniversary class, making this class doubly special. The class overall had a very good turnout. About thirty to forty people were in attendance. Josh and Casey taught a very, emphasis on very energetic routine to the song "Tear The Roof Off" by Busta Rhymes. Interestingly, they gave us the option of choosing which song to learn because they were "indecisive". Everyone picked the song that sounded more hype. The routine for the most part was very energetic, looked kinda intricate, but in the end it was okay to learn. They are some of the best teachers in the business, it's no wonder they were Hypersquad's delegates for America's Best Dance Crew. Not only that, they are some of the nicest and funniest people you will ever meet.

All of the seven crew members from ABDC season five were there to support Josh and Casey. All of the Hype members have that "Aloha Hospitality". When I walked in they didn't hesitate to greet and welcome me. I went for a handshake, they went for a hug. Josh is really funny too, Cindy (Fr3sh, UFP, Boogiezone NJ Exec) was having trouble introducing Casey because she couldn't pronounce her name. Josh whispered to her to say Casey "Hakalugi" (Hock a loogie). After the class there was a meet and greet and merchandise opportunity. By far, I would say this is the best Boogiezone Class I've been to in forever. Probably the best class I've been to in forever. Mahalo Plenty to Hype 5-0 for teaching the class. It was a MAJOR MAJOR success. If Hype ever teaches a class in your area, I urge you to go. Sure, you might be sore after (I'm still sore right now, it was quite a workout), but trust me, you will regret not taking the class.

Here's the video from his christ0ph3rb Youtube Channel. Thanks for sharing Chris!
