VietNamTheworld and Kaba Modern Legacy -- a brilliant partnership

Ambitious Alex, Barry Goods, Tony Tran and Trandrew of Kaba Modern Legacy premiered their latest choreography set at Singapore’s annual Night Festival in July 2010.

I am reposting this to help spread the word about the group that helped sponsor this event.  This is one of many superb videos that can be found at VietnamtheWorldTour.com. From their website (which I encourage you to visit): "Viet Nam The World Tour is a movement of creative thinkers, artists, writers, performers, filmmakers, documentarians and cultural producers whose creative engagements attempt to challenge a global status quo...It exists as a series of live performances and a collection of media, photographs, films and writings that can be found online. These documents give proof and life to a movement that transcends national borders and ideas of nation-hood; a movement that brings together artists and a variety of art forms to celebrate the spirit of creative energy...it is a brand that uses the creation of art to inspire ideas and more art."

New Documentary on Hip Hop Dance available on DVD - Moving in the Moment

The GV Documentary Series on underground HipHop culture just released a DVD  called "Moving in the Moment." I haven't seen the DVD, but other documentaries in the series have received praise for being thoughtful, honest, and less exploitational than many films addressing hip hop topics. It's available now  from Amazon and Netflix. Here's their promotional video:

Enter Week 10 of ABDC Master Mix Contest now!

We're at Week 10 of our 12-week ABDC Master Mix Contest, completely created by Dirtface X, and we're down to 3-second clips! In this variant on Name that Tune, our video contains a sample of an ABDC Master Mix, followed by a judge's comment about the routine. Your challenge: identify the tune AND the crew who performed it. You can use the tune name announced by Mario Lopez, instead of trying to identify the name of the exact song in the clip.. The mixes were prepared by District78.com (though only the Season 5 mixes are currently on their website). Full episodes of the programs can be found on MTV.com. Whoever can correctly identify the most routines (crew and song title) will be the winner.  Click here for all the rules. NOTE: I'm only accepting the first answer you send in (no changes) so take your time to get it right the first time!

For those of you who have trouble watching the videos, here's the judge's comment.  Shane Sparks: "Everything was sexy..."

Please send all entries to ABDCContest@gmail.com. MAKE SURE YOU USE THE SAME EMAIL ADDRESS EVERY TIME SO I CAN TRACK AND SCORE YOUR ENTRIES PROPERLY! All entries for Week 10 must be received by midnight on September 19.

Student project: Opening titles for an imagined JabbaWockeeZ documentary

Reader the4got10one is a student in Digital Media at an Australian university. One of his recent class projects was preparing opening titles for an imaginary documentary about the JabbaWockeeZ. I'm especially impressed in that he was limited in how much actual video he was allowed to incorporate. What do you think?

Video: JabbaWockeeZ interviewed about changes to their Las Vegas Show - "MUS.I.C on steroids"

As reported earlier this week. JabbaWockeeZ show MUS.I.C. is moving to the Monte Carlo Hotel in Las Vegas as of October 7, 2010. The show will run for an indefinite period on Tuesdays through Saturdays at 9:30 PM. You can now buy tickets at the Monte Carlo website.

Pacific Rim talked to JabbaWockeeZ members at the recent Beat Freaks/Hellz Bellz event. Among the discussion -- they've added some new routines to MUS.I.C.  to encourage their fans to return to the show.
