The description of this video starring Hok Konishi (ABDC's Quest Crew) and Phillip "Pacman" Chbeeb (I.aM.mE and Marvelous Motion) on the Hokuotkonishi Youtube Channel: "We wanted to play with the dynamics of both structured logical lines and animalistic formations with our bodies." Thanks for the link, BSG!

The website for CBS's "Live to Dance" posted full episodes and a few clips. The clips include two hip hop contenders already chosen for the Top 18 -- Chi-town's Finest Breakers and Jalen. In addition, CBS chose two clips of Inside the Box, who will learn next week if America voted them in or out: their initial audition and their dance-off. There is no official video posted for Theatrix (another hip hop group subject to viewer votes) at this time.

The Party Room for Live to Dance's Results show is now open -- join us!

Tonight, Live to Dance announces some of the acts that will compete in the semi-finals for the show, and they'll probably show more dance too. I'm really not sure; they didn't show much dance during the first episode and this one is half as long. In any case, you probably have an opinion on this, so join us in the party room and let it out! Will Jalen be robbed? Will Inside the Box be network stars? Is there some amazing talent on Live to Dance that will eventually appear on America's Best Dance Crew Season X? Tell us! Or just hang out and dish. Whatever. Oh, and that's Paula Abdul dancing here, showing you how it's done.

ABDC6 Audition video clip for Fallen Kings (consisting of ex-members of Flex Flav)

Fallen Kings is coming out for America's Best Dance Crew Season 6 auditions in Los Angeles. The crew's founders tried out for Season 4 as Flex Flav and won support from many of our readers though they didn't get picked for the show. Several members broke off into a new group, changed names twice (Street Scientists, and now Fallen Kings), added members (with an expanded crew that includes Quest members Dtrix and Victor Kim, who will not be part of the ABDC6 audition team), and modified their style. Here's the audition video showing both their ABDC4 routine and their new style. From the DereleekTV Youtube Channel. How you like them now?

Join us tonight for the Live To Dance Results Show Party Room!

Are you still interested in Live to Dance after last night? Then watch with us and let us know what you think. A party room will be posted shortly before 8PM ET and stay open long enough for the West Coast to react. So, join us to see if Jalen, Inside the Box, and other BABDC favorites make the cut tonight.

Enter ABDC Trivia Contest Week 5 now!

Time for more trivia about America's Best Dance Crew, for a chance to win some ABDC-related merchandise or an ITunes gift certificate.  Full rules here. The prize goes to the highest cumulative score (plus winner of the tie-breaker) over this 10-week contest.  The deadline for this puzzle is midnight on January 9, 2011.

Email ABDCContest@gmail.com with the answer to this question:  what ABDC contestant performed in a popular video that was used for another crew's "Music Video Challenge"? Note: please read the question carefully, since its specific phrasing ensures (I hope!) only one correct answer.

World of Dance 2011 -- New website, 12 events, 11 cities, 3 countries!

World of Dance looks to be a powerhouse in 2011. They've redesigned their WorldofDanceTour.com website, adding more information, photos and videos. And their show schedule has been expanded, bringing dance to more places in the United States (Los Angeles, New York, Dallas, San Francisco, Chicago, San Diego, Hawaii), Canada (Toronto, Winnepeg, Vancouver), and Europe (London). Click here for the full event schedule.

World of Dance's first event for 2011 is their Awards ceremony and party in Los Angeles on January 14 to honor top dancers, choreographers, dance events and other players (including websites and media coverage) in the dance community. I can't afford to fly out to Los Angeles for this event, but I'd love to have a field reporter there!

Tonight: Premiere of Live to Dance -- and we'll have the party room open for the event!

Paula Abdul's Live to Dance premieres on CBS tonight at 8pm ET/PT. Based on preview videos like the one below, it looks like a dance version of American Idol with its focus on interesting and more-than-capable dancing, and less like So You Think You Can Dance or America's Best Dance Crew (which tries to showcase the best of the best dancers) or America's Got Talent (where novelty often trumps ability).

Will you watch? If so, feel free to join our party room post which will open at 7:30PM ET. Let us know what you think and who you want to win.

Answers to ABDC Trivia Contest Week 4: Saltare OR Legendary 7

It's not easy putting together an ABDC trivia contest. I thought that we had a simple to understand (but difficult to solve) question for Week 4:"What is the only crew in America's Best Dance Crew history to replace more than half its members from the original audition?"
It turns out there were two equally correct ways to understand the question:
  • If you consider only one season, Saltare was the only crew to replace more than half its members. Due to personal conflicts and issues with school, only two of the original six crew members who auditioned in Season 5 actually participated that season.
  • If you focused on the word 'original' in the question, then you could think of the question as covering multiple auditions and seasons. Legendary 7 participated in Season 5, but a few of the members tried out on Season 1 and performed on the show as Status Quo. This was NOT the intended answer, but is a legitimate reading of the question.
Even with multiple acceptable answers, there were only 10 correct responses this week. That means that anyone can still win if they do well in the next rounds of this contest. So, come back tomorrow for more!

Namaste and Happy New Year! Tell us how we can improve BABDC in 2011

I'm back from a two-week family trip to India, refreshed and ready for a new year on BloggingBestDanceCrew.com. First, I REALLY want to thank Ninjaboi, DirtfaceX, and Del for all their efforts keeping this site going for the last two weeks. I feel honored and lucky to have talented members of this community to keep it fresh, entertaining, and fun while I was mostly internet-less.

In keeping with that theme, I'd like suggestions on how BABDC might improve over the next year. I know that many of you are interested in discussion boards, which I will look into in a few weeks. What other improvements or features would you like to see -- party rooms during the off-season (and on which day?), more surveys, other types of content, more reader involvement (and if so, in what form)? Leave a comment. And thanks again!

Thanks Nancy! Show some love!

As most of you know, over the past few weeks, Nancy has been out of town, unable to post on BABDC. We were honored when she asked us to keep posting stuff up in her absence. It has truly been a great experience to be part of something so much larger than ourselves. We hope that we were able to keep things running smoothly. For those of you who haven't experienced it, it really is tough to keep things both professional and find relevant news every day of the week, and she really deserves a round of applause (several in fact) for the great job she does. Whenever you need it, we're all down to do it again.

"AND AS WE EXIT, OUR BANNER MUST FALL...."

Again, thank you Nancy for this responsibility! Congratulations and good luck at the World of Dance Awards!

-Del, DirtfaceX, and Ninjaboi

P.S.- In case Nancy doesn't back till late, here's a little news to hold you over.... The PacMan/Moon auditions went down and it looks like we have the crew- I.aM.mE. Check this video out from pacman's YouTube channel. Could the SOUTH take the crown this season????(-DirtFaceX)
