More on Super Cr3w performing at the White House -- We want to see Sasha Obama attend their Workshop!

Almost a month ago, we helped break the news that Super Cr3w would perform at the White House in September 2010. Here's the official update: First lady Michelle Obama invited a variety of performers to this Administration's first event celebrating dance. The White House Dance Series: A Tribute to Judith Jamison will honor Jamison for her long work as a American dancer, choreographer, and artistic director of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. The event,  will be held in the White House's East Room on Sept. 7 at 5 p.m. Dancers will be invited from the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Paul Taylor Dance Company, Billy from Billy Elliot the Musical, The Washington Ballet, Super Cr3w, and New York City Ballet.

Earlier in the day, the different dancers will hold workshops for dance students from around the United States. You know -- I read that Sasha Obama likes to dance hip hop. So, I'm hoping we'll see a video of her with the ABDC2 Champions!

Enter Week 8 of ABDC Master Mix Contest now!

We're at Week 8 of our 12-week ABDC Master Mix Contest, completely created by Dirtface X. In this variant on Name that Tune, our video contains a sample of an ABDC Master Mix, followed by a judge's comment about the routine. Your challenge: identify the tune AND the crew who performed it. You can use the tune name announced by Mario Lopez, instead of trying to identify the name of the exact song in the clip.. The mixes were prepared by District78.com (though only the Season 5 mixes are currently on their website). Full episodes of the programs can be found on MTV.com. Whoever can correctly identify the most routines (crew and song title) will be the winner.  Click here for all the rules. NEW RULE: I'm only accepting the first answer you send in (no changes) so take your time to get it right the first time!

For those of you who have trouble watching the videos, here's the judge's comment:  JC Chasez: "You guys got a prop...AND you made it your own."

Please send all entries to ABDCContest@gmail.com. MAKE SURE YOU USE THE SAME EMAIL ADDRESS EVERY TIME SO I CAN TRACK AND SCORE YOUR ENTRIES PROPERLY! All entries for Week 8 must be received by midnight on September 5.

ABDC Master Mix Week 7 answer: Boxcuttuhz dancing to 'Bonafied Lovin'

The Master Mix clip was down to 5 seconds this week, but it fooled nobody. All of the 92 submitted entries got the right answer: Boxcuttuhz dancing to 'Bonafied Lovin' during America's Best Dance Crew Season 3. We also accepted 'Music Sounds Better with You' and 'Night to Fall' which were heard in the 5 second clip.  FYI -- each week, we'll accept the song name that Mario Lopez announced on America's Best Dance Crew, so you don't HAVE to seek out the name of the song actually heard in the shorter clip!  Here's the clue again, followed by the full routine. This contest and its videos were conceived and created by Dirtface X -- Thanks!! And, come back tomorrow for the next installment.

Video: Emmy Awards Opening Number with Randy Jackson, Jimmy Fallon, Glee cast members, Joel McHale, etc.

Video trailer: Ninjaboi casts his ideal but realistic ABDC Season 6 -- what do you think?

Still no concrete news about America's Best Dance Crew Season 6 from MTV or the show's producers. So in the meantime, Ninjaboi is doing his part to fill the gap by creating a scenario and trailer for how he'd do it. Unlike Brandon's equally excellent job in imagining an ABDC All-Star season, Ninjaboi selected crews that haven't yet appeared on ABDC but could realistically expect to be cast. His picks: Instant Noodles, Elektrolytes, Sweet and Sour, Marvelous Motion, Xternal Technique, Second 2 None, Phunk Phenomenon, Ridonkulous, and Point Blank. As we've come to expect from Ninaboi, he has carefully thought out the picks, provided rationales for all and even prepared slogans to describe each  (Heaven help me -- I can even hear Mario saying these!):

"So some of you may question why I picked the crews I did for the lineup...First, I’m assuming that the producers will go ahead and continue the “Regions” division as they have been doing, simply because the West Coast is still dominating, so they want to make sure that that subplot story line is still going on.  Some may not like it, but I’m going for a more realistic lineup with crews that I know.  That means that crews that have said that they will not audition again (BreakEFX, Lost Kidz) are not considered.  Also, crews must fit regulations (minimum of 5 members), and historically crews that have members from previous seasons rarely get past auditions, so I’m not considering those crews either (i.e., Beast Mode)."
Click here to read the rest -- you'll be glad you did! And, thanks Ninjaboi!
