Video: Ghost Crew dancing at Move 2 Groove Hallloween Event

I guess it's more than appropriate that Ghost Crew (ABDC Season 5) would be tapped to perform at a Halloween event. Jokes aside -- it's great to see them again, albeit without their female crew members. Thanks for the link, Xerpent! From the HoustonGhostCrew Youtube Channel.

New Conan O'Brien show to shoot on ABDC's stage at Warner Bros. starting November 2010

The Huffington Post reports: "Conan O'Brien will host his new TBS talk show from a California studio that most recently housed "America's Best Dance Crew."... His show begins in November, and will be recorded on the Warner Brothers lot in Burbank...Warners' Stage 15 was where "All The Presidents Men," "Batman Returns," "Ghostbusters," "The Perfect Storm," "The Music Man," "Gremlins," "Blazing Saddles" and many other films were made."

What does this mean for ABDC? Who knows. They might start a Season 6 by summer so they could vacate in time, they could move to a different stage, or...

Ninjaboi's Reviews ABDC5 (aka Seasoned Fries) & key success factors for ABDC Champions

Another season come and gone.  Congratulations to Poreotix for being ABDC Champs of Season 5, and good job to Blueprint, and all the other crews for putting on a great showing.  One of, if not the, best seasons this show has seen.  This is the first real season which I followed from auditions to finale, and let’s just say that I can’t wait to do it again next season, with the BABDC fam.

What made this season so great?  Here are just a few high points.
-Great love between crews.  There’s already talk about making a crew of Season 5 members called Seasoned Fries, and there was little to no drama backstage that I picked up on.
-Amazing dancers. I will say that there was not a single bad dancer on the stage.  Even Saltare learned, and taught a few things of their own.  In reality any crew could have made it to the top.  Some would have had a harder fight than others, but that much talent on stage so evenly spread out among all the members… it was inspiring.
-Overall legitimate proceedings.  Yes, this was the season of intern screwups.  Yes, Blueprint didn’t deserve to be in the bottom so many times.  Yes, some say Saltare overstayed their visit, Ghost should have made it, and Poreotix may have been getting by more on fanbase than other crews were.  But if you look back at it, the eliminations made sense to some degree.  Even when people were crying over BreakEFX or Static Noyze, their injured members would have held them back in future weeks, or severely affected the careers of the dancers in question if they pushed on, and a timely exit on a strong note really would be a prudent action.  We ended up with the strongest top 4, imo, in ABDC history, one of the best top 2s, and one of the best top 3s.
-Champs Challenge.  Enough said.  That was probably the best episode in ABDC history.
Click here to read the rest of the review, including a detailed review of the Champions for Charity Show and 19 key success factors that distinguish ABDC Champions from the other competitors. Thanks, Ninjaboi!

Ghost Week 2 video: inspired by Static Noyze

As they announced last week, Ghost from Houston, TX wants to show ABDC fans what they're missing because the crew was cut during ABDC Week 1. Each week, they will take the challenge or a song and show how they might have handled it on the show. This week, they were inspired by Static Noyze's performance and taped a routine just a few hours after the East Coast auditions aired. I am really looking forward to seeing what they do once the Nationals start and the challenges are announced. You can follow them on HoustonGhostCrew Youtube Channel. Thanks, Kevin and others!

More Recaps of the Southern Auditions

    • ACSlater.com  prefers Lil Mama over Omarion and Ghost over Jungle Boogie.
    • It's My ABDC takes Ninjaboi's idea of a rating scale (without proper credit to this website and ninjaboi's post!), modifies it and proclaims Swagger Crew the winner, with Jungle Boogie and Royal Flush tied and close behind.

Ninjaboi's review & ratings of ABDC5's Southern audition show

Reader Ninjaboi reviewed America's Best Dance Crew 5, Week 1 - The Southern auditions. He created a 30-point scale to analyze each of the crews:
    • "Intricacy/Choreo/Togetherness (Kaba would get a 10 here) - isolations, tutting, etc
    • Wow/Tricks (Massive Monkees would be the best here) - mostly athletic moves
    • Showmanship (Quest and Jabbawockeez would be the best here) - how well they use stage, showcase members, the energy, and such"
Based on this scale, his ranking for the routines (before the battle):  Swagger 24, Jungle Boogies 22, Royal Flush 22, Ghost 20,  X-treme Motion 17. Ninjaboi's review also discusses crew personalities (based on interviews), power rankings, recommendations to improve performances, and comments about the judges.

BE SURE TO CLICK HERE to read the detailed review. I personally would love to see Ninjaboi's scale (or suggested variants) used in reader comments to improve our discussions about the crews and the season.

Pressbox views + video: Chris Trondsen reports on backstage at Southern Audition taping

Chris Trondsen is back as one of our reporters for America's Best Dance Crew Season 5. Here, he shares the backstage perspective on the taping of the Southern audition show:

"ABDC is back baby! Season 5 is here! This season the TV audience gets to see a little of what goes on behind the scenes when the judges are selecting who makes it on the final show by not only showing you footage of the multi-city auditions but by watching as the judges also cut down from 5 crews to 3 to represent that region on the ABDC that starts Feb 18th."

Click here to read his full description of the press experience, including what Omarion was like, his impressions of the Southern Crews, a reason that Ghost may have been sent home early, and more. Thanks Chris! We look forward to reading more from you all season!

Bonus footage: our press team for BloggingBestDanceCrew.com and dancetag.tv shot footage of what it's like when MTV finally kicks them out of the studio. They give some opinions about the crews (getting some names wrong -- sorry!!), and meet up with Beat Freaks, We are Heroes, and a drive-by by Pacific Rim.
