Jabbawockeez manager Lee Razalan talks about group's formation and motivation

Though Jabbawockeez is well known to most BABDC readers and fans of Hip Hop Dance, this perspective by manager Lee Razalan might shed some light on why the group continues to be so successful. Lee has been a professional dancer -- he was one of the four original silhouettes for the iPod ads.  You can get tickets for their Las Vegas show PRiSM here.

From the article in the Las Vegas Sun: "They are artist warriors at their core; movement and music are their weapons of choice. They are a band of brothers who have forged an identity as one solid army, fronted with their signature white masks and gloves. Their bottomless ammunition is the inspiration they draw from everyday life and from those they come into contact with on a daily basis. They fight in honor of the flight of ever-flowing creativity and the drive of pure imagination."

More ABDC alums performing in Las Vegas: Zoeth (Afroborike) in Peepshow with Coco (Ice loves Coco)

ABDC fans can catch up with their favorite alums in shows like Jabbawockeez' PriSM, and Cirque du Soleil's Michael Jackson ONE (with 787 Crew), as well as crew alums competing at Hip Hop Internatioal in August.

As she describes in this Las Vegas Sun article, Zoeth performs topless in the show, with roles including Lemonade and the swing for Mutha G. Watch highlights of the show below, if you dare.

SYTYCD results w/ videos: Emilio (IaMmE) chosen for top 20 but sidelined; 4 other hiphop/animators make it

The top 20 have been announced for Season 10 of So You Think You Can Dance. Last week, we reported that six hiphop dancers and animators were in the top 33, the pool from which the show would choose the dancers to be featured each week. Five of the six were chosen for the top 10: Emilio 'Millie' Dosal (member of America's Best Dance Crew Season 6's IaMmE), Mariah Spears, Dorian Bluprint Hector, Fik-Shun Stegal, and Jade Zuberi.

Unfortunately, Emilio was injured during the rehearsals for the opening show and will not appear this season. Here's hoping he recovers soon!

The show featured separate performances by the hiphop duo that was left - Maria Spears and Fik-shun, and by the animators. Other show highlights: the top 10 guys routine was a nifty dance using sand (click here to watch) and the top 10 girls used a version of "Let's Have a Kiki" recorded by ABDC's Fanny Pak with District 78 (click here to watch)

So You Think You Can Dance aired its Las Vegas week episode, cutting the field down over 100 dancers to 33. Next week we hear the top 20. Among the choices are Emilio 'Millie' Dosal of IaMmE (America's Best Dance Crew Season 6 winners), and 5 other interesting hip hop or animation dancers: Mariah Spears, Markus Shields, Dorian Bluprint Hector, Fik-Shun Stegal, and Jade Zuberi. Of the group, I am pretty sure that Fik-Shun will be chosen for the top 20, and I hope that Emilio and some of the others make it as well.

More hiphop successes at America's Got Talent: Dragon House's Blueprint

Last year, Dragon House sent three hiphop dancers to the So You Think You Can Dance auditions. This year, the only dancer from the House that was shown was Dorian 'Blueprint' Hector. He moved on to Las Vegas. The show also featured Jasmine Harper, the ex-girlfriend of Cyrus (the Dragon House member who came in second last season). Her style was more contemporary, but very impressive -- she is also going to the Las Vegas round.

Funny video of the day: Pharside (SS, AOV) + Lando Wilkins (Mos Wanted Crew) - Con Artist Films

The video is funny, but it would be awesome if the idea is serious -- Chris 'Pharside' Jennings (ABDC's Supreme Soul plus founder of Academy of Villains) and Lando Wilkins (ABDC's Boxcuttuhz and Mos Wanted Crew) have an ad for Con Artist Films. It's an ad for a video production house -- something that both of these artists have mad skills in. If I wanted to make a Con(cept) video, I'd hire these pros.

Video: Pharside (SS, AOV), Emilio (IaMmE), Jet Li (Poreotics), J Smooth (MGF) - "MARS"

Artistry in the camera effects and the dancing and choreography from Chris 'Pharside' Jennings (America's Best Dance Crew Season 2's Supreme Soul, founder of Academy of Villains), joined by Emilio 'Millie' Dosal (ABDC Season 6's IaMmE), Justin 'Jet Li' Valles (ABDC Season 5's Poreotics) and J Smooth Machine Gone Funk) make this today's must-watch. More highlights from So You Think You Can Dance Boston auditions: Toshihiko Nakazawa, John Tesoriero

Two more highly entertaining hip hop performers from the Boston auditions for So You Think You Can Dance:
- Toshihiko Nakazawa performed mixed hiphop styles. The judges were taken both by his technique and his lack of English language skills and sent him through to the Las Vegas round

-John Tesoriero is a crew member for UPrising at Boston College. He brought in a street beatboxer for his audition, which was one of the more creative ones I've seen in a while. I'm not sure why he didn't get sent straight to Las Vegas, but he was cut after the choreography round.

Video: E-Knock (Status Quo, Legendary 7) at So You Think You Can Dance Boston auditions

Ernest 'E-knock' Phillips (leader of America's Best Dance Crew's Status Quo and Legendary 7) made it to the choreography rounds for So You Think You Can Dance. He performed a very moving solo about the recent death of his cousin. I'm not sure why he went to choreography when other hip hop dancers with similar talent went through to Las Vegas.

Video: Brian Puspos choreographs Ian Eastwood (Mos Wanted Crew), Pat Lam, Pat Cruz, Ade

From the description: This video isn't for me nor my journey, but for everyone who was there and still here giving my journey purpose. With that being said, I flew out my best friends from Houston that make my saying "True friendships can grow separately without growing apart." factual. This concept isn't even a concept. This is real life, but it's more than just a typical night out in LA with my friends. It's about celebrating with other hard working individuals who happen to be my friends. As artists in our particular art form, we are still overlooked and sometimes omitted from any recognition. We truly deserve more. As you see or will see, I definitely embrace the work hard play hard philosophy.

It's been awhile since Kolanie Marks and RNG (America's Best Dance Crew Season 7) took a break from their busy schedule to record a new video. They've added a new member, and look sharp as ever. From RNGDancers Youtube.

Latest from the Pass It Down Video Series: "Purpose"

Cannon from I.M.P.A.C.T. is the latest featured dancer in Chris 'Pharside' Jenning's Pass It Down video series, that fosters the dance community by letting dancers express themselves in words and movement.

Video: Lawrence and Chad (Poreotics) on new Anthony Lee dance - "Only Flaw"

Anthony Lee choreographs and dances to an emotional routine, backed up by Poreotic's Lawrence and Chad, as well as Mike Fallorina and Pat Cruz. On anflowny Youtube. Thanks Greg!

Video: Moon (IaMmE) - "Nothing Like Us"

Di Moon Zhang of IaMmE (ABDC Season 6) has a stunning solo to Justin Bieber's "Nothing Like Us" on his MarvelousMoon Youtube

Video: Chad (Poreotics) in Megan Batoon's "Game Night"

Chad Mayate of Poreotics (America's Best Dance Crew Season 5 winners) participates in Megan Batoon's video about a night where Catchphrase becomes a little too dance-y. Thanks for the link Greg!

Video: 8 Flavahz members back up Zendaya on Dancing with the Stars Finale

On this weeks' finale of Dancing with the Stars, Angel and Charlize of 8 Flavahz (America's Best Dance Crew Season 7) were recruited to work with Zendaya on the SuperSize Freestyle (which was a fusion of cha cha, contemporary and hiphop styles). The video shows them in rehearsal and in the final performance. Thanks for the tip, Tafari!

Video: Millie (IaMmE) successfully auditions for So You Think You Can Dance

Another ABDC alum who auditioned for this season's So You Think You Can Dance was Emilio 'Millie' Dosal (member of America's Best Dance Crew Season 6's IaMmE). He was sent to the choreography round and was given the ticket to Las Vegas. Phllip 'Pacman' Chbeeb (another IaMmE member who was very successful in an earlier SYTYCD season) was in the audience rooting Millie on, and the segment shows IaMmE dancing together.

Video: So You Think You Can Dance audition from Slick (Ringmasters)

The second night of Los Angeles auditions for So You Think You Can Dance started with a bonebreak dance by Nicholas 'Slick' Stewart (member of America's Best Dance Crew Season 3's Ringmasters). He made it to the choreography round but was not sent to Las Vegas (unlike Shane Garcia who auditioned in Austin with bonebreaking and other hip hop moves, looked to do slightly less well in the choreo round but has a moving background story about overcoming a stutter through dance and thus made it to Vegas.)

Video: Freestyle from JP Goldstein (Mos Wanted Crew) and Hazmat (Hype 5-0)

I don't know if I've ever seen JP Goldstein (member of ABDC's Mos Wanted Crew) and Josh 'Hazmat' Ulep (member of ABDC's Hype 5-0) working together, but they're a natural pair. From TheJPGoldstein Youtube.

Video: Mike Song (Kaba Modern) discusses and demonstrates his creative process

In the first video from B.A.D. (Born a Definition), Mike Song (member of ABDC Season 1's Kaba Modern as well as Kinjaz) describes his creative process and demonstrates some of his points. The video was created and directed by Lando Wilkins (Mos Wanted Crew) on his Youtube Channel.

Taylor Swift took the stage at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards to sing "22" and dance with a lot of people including members of Jabbawockeez (America's Best Dance Crew Season 1 winners). Watch it here.
